318 was damaged as we replaced the failed keep crane. Keel aft end crunched slightly.
We needs to replace the boat and so we had to start fresh at 1720 to fully prepare and launch a replacement 320 - which had not been sailed this year and so much had to be readied.
Got to the line at the 10 minutes before the start.
1st start, with all the big boats. We need to get our own start somehow.
Matt says we get one and the RC says we don’t.
Lots of drama round the problems of the hasty boat launch and config. We managed.
The jib halyard was a serious problem.
We need to think together as a team about the movement of the jib’s luff up and down the forestay to open or close the leach.
And the backstay - I had forgotten the gross backstay trim so we bottomed out quickly on the fine trim at the pedestal - won’t make that mistake again.
Sue did a good job driving in the breeze with light chop. Even as Howard and I had heads in the boat working on problems.
